DJ SPOTLIGHT: JOHN WAYNE
We’d like to introduce you to John Wayne
Tell us how you got started—what sparked your journey into DJing/producing?
I fell in love with electronic music when I was 16. I went to my first rave at the American Airlines Center for Zenfest and Rabbit in the Moon headlined. That blew my mind. After that I went to Lizard Lounge and Afterlife. I was hooked on the dance floor. I decided DJing would be a better route and after catching Tiesto’s headphones at the age of 21 I made the full commitment and never looked back. I've been DJing well over 20 years now.
What are you most proud of when it comes to your brand or artistry?
I've accomplished a lot, I've got to DJ many amazing places, I've opened and shared the stage with many amazing artists, but I am pretty proud of the work we accomplished with JacksHouse and the City getting dance permits, and the Copper Star!!!
What goals are you chasing right now as an artist?
I would like to finally produce some songs I've stored away for a while now.

What’s the most memorable crowd moment you’ve had in the Dallas scene?
When I opened for Rabbit in the Moon and Crystal Method at Stereo Live. Full circle moment for me, and had a nice crowd.
If you could back‑to‑back with any Dallas DJ tomorrow, who would it be and what genre would you play?
My partner Willie Trimmer at a major festival—and we would play a groove jackin house set.
Best advice you’ve gotten from another artist?
Network is net worth!
How do you discover new music to keep your sets fresh?
I belong to some underground DJ pools and dig online.
