MAYHAM 2025: GET TO KNOW SiMBOLiZM

by Austin Ham |

DJ SPOTLIGHT: SiMBOLiZM

We’d like to introduce you to SiMBOLiZM

Tell us how you got started—what sparked your journey into DJing/producing?
I started as a videographer/promoter, with underground / abandoned raves! We would usually trespass or go to a very secluded spot. Over time I learned more about the back end of things, and even how to DJ and make music from others in the scene. I then started taking music more seriously, and now host my own events with Sounds From Below, and do music full time! It's been a pleasure starting off small in the Dallas scene and becoming a huge part of it!

What are you most proud of when it comes to your brand or artistry?
Being able to push the message of mental health, connection, and love. It's been a journey getting to this point, and a magical one at that. I love helping people and providing a safe and fun environment for people to party! On top of that, I’ve played some of my dream festivals, like Ubbi Dubbi, Backwoods, and more!

What goals are you chasing right now as an artist?
I currently am wanting to plan out a SiMBOLiZM tour, traveling the U.S. doing underground shows with underground communities! I also want to continue to spread awareness for mental health with music and with shows—I really enjoy bringing people together.

Any mixes, tracks, or recent releases you’d like people to hear?
My recent album, which is a different route I've taken with music as of lately. It consists of LoFi, me rapping, and even me singing. I don't want to be that guy that plays and makes bangers—I want to be that guy that helps you feel something, and helps you look at life a little happier.

Best advice you’ve gotten from another artist?
Don’t compare yourself to others. Stay positive. Manifest everything. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

How do you discover new music to keep your sets fresh?
I dig DEEP on SoundCloud. If an artist has less than a few thousand followers, I usually will download something. I love playing new things that nobody has ever heard. Under 100 followers is like a gold mine too. Low followers just means fresh / new!
