DJ SPOTLIGHT: SKIZZY
We’d like to introduce you to Skizzy – Scarlett Ally Rain
Tell us how you got started—what sparked your journey into DJing/producing?
I’ve had a love for music for as long as I can remember and have always been involved in music. Once I started going to more festivals & EDM shows, I fell in love with the music and community even more. Just in the first few months of moving to Dallas, I met so many amazing people and artists who encouraged me and helped me build more connections. Once I started playing shows, I knew it was something I must keep pursuing.
What are you most proud of when it comes to your brand or artistry?
I do not like to be tied down to one specific genre. I know what styles and sounds I love and would like to incorporate all of them into my music and surprise the crowd often. You won’t ever just hear the same type of dubstep when I play… I love to throw in some rap, rock, riddim, future bass, trap, euphoric songs, my vocals, and more during my sets while keeping a steady flow. I like to give everyone a voice through my music, especially when they feel like they don’t have one.
What goals are you chasing right now as an artist?
My biggest goal right now is to finish some EPs and albums I’ve been working on, along with getting more festival gigs & headlining more shows.
Any mixes, tracks, or recent releases you’d like people to hear?
Latest track release: Phantom Pulse – Skizzy
Latest mix: Wubz, Dubz and Riddim – HAY Support Set

What’s the most memorable crowd moment you’ve had in the Dallas scene?
The most memorable crowd moment I have had so far is when everyone started chanting my name after the set & asking for one more song. I absolutely love looking in the crowd seeing people dancing, smiling, and being free. I’ve also had several people come up to me after sets with beautiful and encouraging words or even saying that I helped them get into a better place mentally. It really means a lot and reminds me why I want to do this every day.
If you could back‑to‑back with any Dallas DJ tomorrow, who would it be and what genre would you play?
I’d like to go B2B with Phamox playing a riddim/dubstep set.
Best advice you’ve gotten from another artist?
I try to ask a lot of artists for advice at events or meet & greets. I always hear networking is super important and being original. Don’t give up and work hard every day.
How do you discover new music to keep your sets fresh?
I probably hear at least 50 new songs a day. I am constantly listening to new music on Spotify and SoundCloud and looking for songs to make flips to as well.
