GET TO KNOW DHNO BEFORE PLAYING MAYHAM 2023
We’d like to introduce you to DHNO - Alex Mendoza.
DHNO, please share how you got started as we would love to know more about your story!
-Around mid 2019 my friend asked if I listened to Dubstep and I told him I used to for a bit in 2012 and a bit during Junior year in Highschool. He then asked if I wanted to go to a rave and I literally said, yeah why not and that’s pretty much how it started. A little bit later we sent it to Marauda at the last minute. I think that was my 3rd or 4th time ever going to a show? That set literally blew my mind and I walked out of there like, “Yo I think I can do this type of stuff”. After that, COVID hit and I completely forgot about EDM until Ubbi Dubbi 2021 which conveniently was also when the band I was in disbanded and I was in between going into EDM or Alternative Rock. I chose EDM after attending Ubbi and started taking it seriously around the start of 2022 when I played a local event at The Haltom Theater. Honestly, it was pretty terrifying since everything I did music wise was with a group of people and this was going to be my first solo venture. Everything ended up working out and the rest is pretty much history!
What are you most proud of when it comes to your brand?
-So far it has to be playing the sold out Emorfik show that I did with Kullez. Had a blastdoing that show and the crowd reactions were absolutely insane. Everytime I think about it I get goosebumps. 10/10 would relive again. Can’t wait for a DHNO b2b Kullez part 2.
What are your goals as an artist?
-My biggest goal as an artist honestly is eventually having my own festival and curated events. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do ever since I started with music when I was in a band. So many ideas in my head for attractions and different little cool things for people to do. Would also love to be able to collab with some of my favorite bands like Cleopatrick and Royal Blood.
Any mixes and/or songs you would like to share?
-SO MANY TO SHARE. I’ve really been bumpin to JASE PROCTOR and LYDOSE’s, “Splint”. That predrop is literally one of the gnarliest ones I’ve heard in a fat minute. Also been really messing with VOYDOOM, MASSPANIC, TRAWMA, VERSA, and MUERTE. Sets wise though, I recently just listened to Marauda’s Rampage 2022 set and MAN it’s absolutely insane.
